A Little Story of a ’66 Chevy Impala | Lifestyle Photography

This ’66 Chevy Impala has had a long and wonderful life, filled with many memories. From trips to Disney World to day cruises around Pensacola, this car has been a true gem in my family. My grandfather, Papa Bill, bought the car in 1968, and for the past 50 years, it has been treated with the utmost care. When Papa Bill decided to sell the car, 15 years later, a co-worker said his young brother-in-law was looking to buy a car. However, the buyer was only 18 years old and did not have much money. The young man went to see the car and told Papa Bill how much he loved the Impala. He really wanted it, but he could not afford it. Papa Bill made a deal with him. He said that if the young man came by every payday, he could have the car. And so the promise was kept. Every payday, the young man came to see Papa Bill until it was paid off. In this small town, they would always run into each other, and Papa Bill would ask, “How’s my car doin’?” The man, who was not so young anymore, was so proud of that car and always told Papa Bill how much he loved it. He washed and polished it every weekend. After many years had passed, the man came back to see Papa Bill. Papa Bill was shocked to see him on his front porch after all those years, and as always, he asked about the car. The man handed Papa Bill the keys and thanked him for trusting him. “This car was always yours,” he said. “I was just borrowing it. Thank you.”

Very nice car, indeed. Who is that dashing, handsome man at the wheel??? This is a wonderful story about a great car owned and used by some even more wonderful people. It’s nice to see a photo of it, as I’ve heard about the car a few times.
